The hometown tour: St. Louis, Missouri. Our month with Flat Ashley!

After seeing pictures of all of Flat Lily's adventures, the kids were excited to have our own visitor. Flat Ashley came to St. Louis all the way from Torrance, California- 1,841 miles away! Over the
span of a month, we spent seven days taking Flat Ashley on a mini-tour of our fair city.

*******
Day 1

This was our most action-packed day with Flat Ashley. We started with a visit to the girls' school (The French School) for parent-teacher conferences. The girls were excited to take pictures with their teachers.

Lily with M. Cyril

Annabelle with Mme. Adeline

Since we were already downtown, we decided to take a trip to the top of the Gateway Arch.

There's the Old Courthouse in the background.

And the famous Arch!

Once inside, we lined up for our turn to take a trip to the top.

Lucky number 7
To get to the top, everyone rides in a little white pod.

Through the east side windows you can see Illinois and the Mississippi River.

The windows on the west side give a view of the city of St. Louis including the Old Courthouse and Busch Stadium.

The very top of the Arch is 630 feet high!

After our trip to the Arch we had a late lunch at the famous Crown Candy Kitchen.

Their BLTs are huge!!!

Day 2

For our second outing with Flat Ashley we went to the St. Louis Science Center.

We saw dinosaur bones.

And animal skeletons.

*******
Day 3

On our third adventure with Flat Ashley, Annabelle and her Daisy Girl Scout troop went to the St. Louis Art Museum.

They saw mummies.

And the special exhibit Currents 109: Nick Cave.

*******
Day 4

Proving that you never know what the weather will be like when you're in St. Louis, our fourth day of fun with Flat Ashley was all about snow.

We hope our California girl enjoyed this taste of midwest weather.

*******
Day 5

On Day 5 we crossed the Mississippi and went to Cahokia Mounds.

Cahokia Mounds is the site of the largest and most influential pre-Columbian Native American city. The Mississippian city was comprised of about 120 man-made mounds and was active from the years 600-1400.

We explored the largest mound, Monk's Mound.

Monk's Mound is 100 feet high and the tallest man-made mound north of Mexico.

It was super windy and prefect for kite flying!

At the visitor's center we took a picture with one of our favorite Stl250 cakes. Over 250 cakes were scattered around the St. Louis region to celebrate the city's 250th birthday in 2014.

While we were in the area, we stopped at the World's Largest Catsup Bottle.

The 170 foot tall water tower was built in 1949.

*******
Day 6

For a little culture, we took a trip to Powell Hall to see the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Fun!

St. Louis is known for beer. So after the show, we took a trip to Schlafly Bottleworks brewery and restaurant.

*******
Day 7

On our last day with Flat Ashley we took a trip to Busch Stadium, the home of the best team in baseball- The St. Louis Cardinals!

A quick pic with Stan the Man.

Thanks so much for visiting us, Flat Ashley. We hope you and the real Ashley love this mini-tour of St. Louis!
